Miss Megan Jeffries is a consultant ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon based in West Sussex, with a sub-specialist interest in paediatric ophthalmology and adult squint (strabismus). Delivering excellent patient care is front and centre of her approach.
Miss Jeffries has experience managing patients with general ophthalmological conditions ranging from dry, watery and itchy eyes to swollen optic discs. She works closely with other specialists where necessary to coordinate care.

After graduating from Cambridge University, Miss Jeffries studied medicine as a graduate at Nottingham University. She worked in the antipodes for two years then undertook ophthalmology training in London Deanery based at St Thomas' Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital. She sub-specialised in paediatric ophthalmology with a fellowship at The Royal London Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.
Miss Jeffries has been serving NHS patients at University Hospital Sussex NHS Trust since September 2020 at both Southlands Hospital (Shoreham) and St Richard’s Hospital (Chichester). She is an experienced cataract surgeon (over 2,000 cases) and manages children (newborn to 18) and adults with eye conditions.
Miss Jeffries is the ophthalmology lead for medical students studying at Brighton University. She is actively involved training many doctors and allied health professionals.
